Recently, I was asked to try out a Nectar Mattress and give my opinion. Nectar claims to be the most comfortable mattress available. (Big claim right?!) Nectar says their mattress is designed for every type of sleeper, and they describe it as semi-firm to firm.  It is one of the lowest priced mattress out there, so let’s see if it lives up to the hype.

About the Nectar Mattress

First, let me tell you a bit about the Nectar mattress and what it claims.  Nectar says their mattress is the most comfortable mattress out there.  It is made from several layers of foam with a tencel cooling cover that is actually bed bug resistant.

It comes in one firmness level that is said to be designed for any type of sleeper.  It is 11 inches thick and CertiPUR-US® Certified (which means it is made without ozone depleters, PBDEs, TDCPP, mercury, lead).  It comes with free shipping and  free returns, a 365 day trial period, and a lifetime warranty.

Delivery and Setup

Nectar is a memory foam type mattress and can be compressed and delivered right to your door.  Mine actually arrived at my door in a giant purple bag via Fedex.

The mattress I got was a queen size and I was able to move it by myself.  Inside the outer bag was a zippered bag with handles which made is really easy to carry and put on the bed base.  The bed is rolled up in plastic and there is an instruction sheet/ warranty card and plastic cutter in the bag as well.

All you need to do is cut off the plastic and the bed will start to expand.  Don’t worry it doesn’t pop out, it expands very slowly.  Here is a video of us opening the plastic (as you can see it is very slow and safe)  The bed also came with 2 Free pillows which were inside as well.

Once opened it took a little bit for the mattress and pillows to fully expand.  It did have a slight odor, but it went away by the next morning.  I did not really mind it, but I did notice it.  When fully expanded the mattress was really nice looking.  The cover was super soft and cushy feeling.  (I almost wanted to sleep on it without even putting sheets on it)

Nectar Mattress Review

Ok so I’m sure your wondering what the bed is actually like.  It is hard to explain, but the bed is very soft while being firm at the same time.  You do not feel like you are sinking down into it, but at the same time it is cushy and soft.

I had a memory foam type mattress in the past and I did not like it because it slept hot, it made me feel like I was sinking down if I laid still for too long, and if you got too close to the edge you could fall off.  (The other memory foam mattress I had was almost $1000 btw!) I thought this mattress would have those same downfalls (especially since it is much cheaper) but I was surprised that it did not have ANY of them.

The first couple nights it was “different” just because I am used to my old mattress.  The Nectar mattress is very soft but supportive.  My old bed would sometimes cause my hip to hurt. I am a side sleeper and I think the springs in my old bed would cause the pain.  This bed actually has made me feel better with no pain in my hip.  I feel like I am sleeping more soundly and not tossing and turning as much.  I was really surprised that this bed felt as cool as it did.  My last memory foam bed made me wake up due to the heat it created but the Nectar felt just the same as my old innerspring as far as temperature goes.  You can also sit on the edge without it sinking down to the bed-frame which is something I absolutely hated about the other memory foam mattress I had.

Overall, the Nectar mattress really surprised me.  The last memory foam mattress I had kind of turned me off to all of them in general, thinking that is just the way they are.  But like I said, the Nectar really surprised me.  They solved all the deal-breakers I had (the heat, the sinking in, and the edge problems).   It is comfortable, looks great, and has a lifetime warranty (Yes…really for as long as you own it).  I really have no complaints.  If I had to complain at all I would have to admit I do not like the pillows that came free with the mattress.  Being a side sleeper I prefer a thin pillow, and the pillows they sent were very fluffy!  They were very nice pillows, just a bit too thick for me.

Nectar Mattress Coupon and Offer

Right now Nectar has a killer deal going on where they are giving you $125 off your mattress + 2 FREE pillows.  You get a 365 night trial, so if for any reason you don’t like it they will refund your money and take the mattress away for free ( No questions asked – I like that part!).  They also have a 6 month payment plan available which is interest free, and no credit check is required.

I have tried an expensive memory foam mattress as well as one of the dirt cheap ones on amazon and I would have to say the Nectar mattress blows them both out the water.  I would definitely recommend it after sleeping on a variety of mattress, especially if you have pain like I did.  If you have any questions you would like a honest answer to about the Nectar, leave a comment below and I will do my best to answer!  🙂
