Bazaarvoice is a company that specializes in helping companies get ratings and reviews on their products. Just about every big company is using them on their website in order to collect customer reviews. Why does that matter to you? Keep reading….

Several companies use Bazaarvoice to collect user reviews on new products through sampling programs. They have new products coming out and they want there to be at least a few reviews on their site when they release the product. The best way to do this is to give away FREE products to loyal customers in exchange for a review on their website. That way when the new product comes out, there will already be reviews from real people to help the shoppers decide.

So what happens when you become a member? You get FREE stuff! Sometimes really awesome stuff. I just got a whole patio set from Target’s program. And all I have to do is write a review. No credit cards, no money involved. All completely free shipped to my house just for a review!!

So, How do you get in?

Most all of these programs are INVITE only… meaning the company has to invite you. No current member can invite you either. The invite comes ONLY from the company. So…where do the companies find these people?? They get them from their current customer base, especially people who are already writing reviews. So the absolute best way to get an invite is to write reviews on these brands websites. Does that guarantee you will get picked? NO. Does it give you a good chance? YES. It is up to you to decide if you want to take time and write reviews for a chance.

Quick Tips

When you write reviews on any of these sites, you need to make sure it is a “thoughtful” review.  Don’t just say “I like it” or it’s Great” and that’s it.  Write a paragraph or two about what you like about it, how it works better or worse than other products, any pros and cons.  Companies like honest, helpful reviews and will always look for the “good” reviewers that leave detailed reviews.  And also don’t make stuff up or review things you haven’t tried.  People can usually tell when it’s a fake review so don’t be tempted to do it!
