Lourdes Water is generated from a spring in the grotto of Massabielle in Lourdes and is protected by an illuminated glass plate. Lourdes Water is not Holy Water, however having the water blessed by a priest does mean that it then becomes Lourdes Holy Water.
The water at Lourdes draws people from all over the world. It is estimated that over 6 million people visit every year. They come to pray, drink, bathe, and all the while they hope for a miracle.
What is Holy Water?
Holy Water is a water that has been blessed by a member of a clergy. It is sometimes used to bless people, churches, homes, and articles of devotion. It is mainly used in Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Lutheran, and Anglican religions.
