If you think you might be pregnant, it’s important to take a pregnancy test as soon as possible. The earlier you know, the better you can plan for a healthy pregnancy.
A pregnancy test can tell you if you’re pregnant before you have any other symptoms. You can buy a pregnancy test at a pharmacy or online, but did you know that you can also get a free pregnancy test?
How To Get A FREE Pregnancy Test
Pregnancy tests are available for free at many locations, including clinics, hospitals, and family planning centers. Here’s how to get a free pregnancy test:
Health Department: A health department is a government agency responsible for protecting the public’s health. Every state has health departments that are funded by taxpayers. The health department works to prevent disease and injury, and to promote and protect the health of people through education, promotion, and regulation. Many Health Departments also offer free pregnancy tests. Use this link on CDC.gov to find the nearest health department in your area.
Community health centers: Health centers provide care to millions of people, in every U.S. state, U.S. territory, and the District of Columbia, regardless of ability their to pay. Use this link to find a community health center near you. Many of them offer free pregnancy tests by blood or urine.
Pregnancy Centers: Pregnancy centers are nonprofit organizations that offer compassionate support to women and men seeking to make a tough prenatal decision. Many of these crisis pregnancy centers offer free pregnancy tests, free ultrasounds, and other medical services to help struggling families.
Can I get a FREE Pregnancy Test by mail?
Currently I have not come across any online free pregnancy tests by mail. In the past there were a couple places offering them, but none at the time of this post.
$1 Pregnancy Tests at the Dollar Store
If your not quite ready to make an appointment with one of the services or centers listed above, did you know you can score really cheap pregnancy tests at your local dollar store? Most stores like Dollar Tree have pregnancy tests in the health aisle of the store that only cost $1.00 (or now $1.25 since they raised their prices due to inflation. This is a great “almost free” alternative that many people don’t know about.
Getting a free pregnancy test is not as difficult as one might think. There are many organizations and clinics that offer free or low-cost pregnancy tests.
